The twelve-month client program consists of business skills workshops and presentations based on clients collectively identifying and agreeing on their business skill needs. The program commences with workshops on holistic life vision; long, medium and short-term goal setting; self-management skills and tools; and the establishment of networking and motivational support groups. The program follows a business planning or mapping process utilising visual tools and adult learning methodologies. Consultants are drawn from the business community to deliver workshops in their area of expertise and are also available for one-on-one consultancies and mentoring support. The consultants all value and have a genuine interest in the up-skilling and nurturing of the arts. The Programs content is reviewed and updated as clients’ progress through the program. The months following the skills workshops are focused on implementation, with specialised mentoring and or consultancy as required. The program also runs informal interactive arts-business forums with guests (who run successful arts-based businesses) invited to tell their business story. To maximise participant benefits all workshops and group sessions, other than the peer-to-peer get-togethers, will be restricted to 12 participants per session. Lab clients complete a series of feedback forms and surveys to inform the on going shaping and success of the program. Client feedback to date has been overwhelmingly positive with clients experiencing a genuine sense of support, motivation, clarity of goals and direction, business skills development and appreciation of the realities of being in business. Criticisms have been constructive and enabled the project managers Stuart Thorn and Carolyn Coates to make valued adjustments. Self - selected business support Each participant is encourage to maximise this opportunity through attending workshops, initiating access to consultants, coaches and mentors in areas where it is believed (in consultation with the project managers) benefit will be gained and being forward in communicating their needs to the Project Managers. Business professionals will be available to provide advice in a range of speciality areas. Should other areas of need be identified, professional support will be sought where possible. Small group workshops and consultancies for up to 12 participants per session will be organised where there are groups seeking advice or support in the same area. Lab project managers will inform clients of all coming events and ensure that the website booking calendar is up-to-date. The managers will support and monitor clients throughout the program, referring clients on and providing networking opportunities and additional resources where appropriate. NB: The Project Manager will not chase clients. It is the responsibility of the client to book into scheduled events and to maintain contact with, and communicate their needs to, the Project Managers. |
