Welcome To Lab

What is Lab?

Lucrative Arts Business (Lab) is a major project of Salamanca Arts Centre funded by AusIndustry under the Building Entrepreneurship in Small Business (BESB) program. The Lab program actively supports arts businesses by stimulating entrepreneurship and business growth through the delivery of individually tailored business training, and mentoring.

NB: Lab's formal program has now ended.  LabChat however is still open to all Lab clients and welcomes interested others.  LabChat runs fun and informative arts-based business conversations on the last Tuesday of each month.  For details and to register your attendance go to LabChat.

Next LabChat

3pm to 5pm Tuesday 29 September - Guest Architect and Artist Judith Abell.

Judith is a Hobart based Graduate Architect and Sculptor who is developing a hybrid practice working between these fields. She writes about art and design for a number of national magazines.

With a number of exhibitions and public art commissions under her belt Judith has recently been awarded a Moorilla Scholarship (2009/2010) and gone on a quick jaunt overseas to undertake a Vitra scholarship.

Judith is slipping into Arts Tasmania on Sept 29 to chat with us about how she manages these separate but inter-related projects. Find out about the skills she has developed as an architect that she applies to her work as an artist, see some images she is bringing along and join in a conversation about art, architecture and life.

You can see some of Judith's breath-taking work at her website www.judithabell.com and also in-situ at Arts Tasmania.
